it does on open bor strict photo requirements . I think we are talking 2 different things. The only think I was seeking was if I needed to change engines. However sprite engines like the 1 I used. I have used open bor for years and it doesn’t read RGBA.
I would go that far. AI is literally trained on other people’s work.
As a general discussion you could argue that all art (whether it be pixel art, music or anything inbetween) is a derivation from an ‘original’, however AI is taking that to a whole new level , along with destroying jobs in the process.
Well I’m using it to make a fan project no one will ever see. I retired shipped my share of team projects so I’m making something for only me. Won’t be harming anyone .
Not sure how you drewc that conclusion there is no existing Open Bor mod with an AI asset. Its impossible. I used the engine 14 years it will not accept AI assets because it cannot read dithered RGBA sprite sheets you need readable frames. SPRITE sheets just make it possible to have multiple frames. it’s impossible to get any version to read RGBA dithered images.
That is because I didn’t say that.
What I said was clearly that AI sprites can be used with OpenBor.
Of course they will have to be in the format that OpenBor uses.
Are you just assuming that AI can’t draw RGB files because the system and prompts you are using can’t?
(From the slop monsters themselves):
Yes, AI can absolutely draw non-RGBA sprites. In fact, generating game assets on a pure white background or using a chroma key (a single, solid color like flat green or magenta) for the background is one of the most common workflows for AI sprite generators
Yes, AI can absolutely draw 8-bit RGB sprites. While traditional 8-bit sprites were limited to specific strict palettes (like the NES’s 13-color limitation), AI can easily generate pixel art within those constraints while using full RGB values for rendering
Godot is a one file executable and doesn’t even write to the Windows registry. I can’t imagine why step 1 wasn’t try it and see.
So did you try Godot yet with your sprites? If the answer is no, then maybe that is something you can focus on and then get back to this thread and answer your own question (the original one).
I pinned my response here for a list of ethical concerns. If you have any additions, be sure to let me know:
Hmm.. you might as well save the planet and hallucinate something yourself. This tech does not support the know operation and will therefore likely produce contradictory sentences next prompt.
I do use AI as an extended ‘Google Search’ of sorts, but its so easy to trip it up, and its the ultimate positive feedback machine.
You can literally ask it ‘is this the best way of doing this?’ , then put a different example up and it will say in the next prompt ‘oh yes thats the best way of doing it’! There’s no intelligence behind it other than collating information and giving what it thinks you want.
Its just filling in some blanks for you and is helpful if for example you want a quick a dirty config file or powershell / bash script or something like that. You give it the info , it takes an example and replaces the bits you have asked for.
For anything else, its just a guessing machine.
I tried in last year just simple test of organise spreadsheet by categories, after manual test of searching for data I noticed it changed some of the values( mostly floats ), does it improved with accuracy since then or is this still probability which can change facts ?
I used browser / Gemini Pro be accurate , data was from market around 100000 rows.
All, apologies for dropping into the thread like this.
I’m the lead developer for OpenBOR - the “engineer” the OP is referring to. For clarity, I never said anything was impossible. What I did try to explain, before realizing what was happening, was that the proposed approach would likely produce inconsistent results and run into several engine-agnostic issues.
The OP is a known troublemaker in the OpenBOR community. He was banned from our forums in 2022 and has repeatedly attempted to return under sock puppet accounts since then. I do not have any interest in carrying drama from one community to another, but I felt it was fair to let you know that this is almost certainly not a productive technical discussion.
You are, of course, free to handle it however you see fit. My only intent here is to give you some context before more of your time is wasted.
Be well,
DC
