Any experience with contributing to open source games?

I like to collaborate on a game, but I don’t have much free time, so I was thinking if there are open source GAME projects that i could contribute to occasionally?
Does anybody have some experience, how that went and so? thx!

I don’t have any experience, but i assume its the same as any open source project. Here is one of my favorite open source games.

Im curious if you have any projects in mind? I dont know whats out there really

not really, I was trying to do collab on discord groups, but it didn’t go so well, so this idea popped out to my mind

You can contribute to the Godot demo projects, some old demos need updates, new features need examples, etc.

That’s a good idea, maybe that’s could be integrated with the upcoming asset store or something…

I recommend starting with a Game Jam. There are tons on itch.io, literally new ones almost every day. A Godot-specific one, Wild Jam, starts this Friday. You can either do one by yourself, or hop on the message board and offer to help. It’s a great way to get your feet wet.

did that, i more on the art side, so was looking for heavier rooted projects

Came here to ask the same question, except I’m more on the technical side, being a ruby on rails backend dev by day/night. The Godot Demos, that’s a great idea, I recently got back into C++ to fix a feature in Geeqie, an open source image viewer.

I love Rails. It influenced so much of how I program in other languages.
