Before anything else, make sure to switch to the GLES2 renderer which is available in Godot 3.1 onwards. Also disable S3TC and ETC2 texture compression in the Project Settings, and enable ETC compression instead (which is the only algorithm supported with the GLES2 renderer).

Test early on Android (ideally on some different devices). Expect hickups in shaders, shadow and lighting.
