Can't unpause game even with process mode

Question

Hello! I’m trying to implement a simple menu for my game that pauses my game once opened, I’ve followed this tutorial trying to set it up however I can’t seem to unpause the game; this is how I’ve set it up:

The “PauseButton” opens the menu and pauses the game, and the “UnpauseButton” should unpause it and hide it, however even though I’ve set the "SimpleMenu"s process mode to “WhenPaused” it won’t register me clicking on it. I’ve even tried setting all three nodes’ process modes to “Always” but it still won’t unpause the game after opening the menu.

Here’s the "SimpleMenu"s script:

extends Control

func _on_pause_button_pressed() -> void:
	show()
	get_tree().paused = true

func _on_unpause_button_pressed() -> void:
	hide()
	get_tree().paused = false

Are you sure your clicks are going through? Check in the Debug dock there’s a tab “Misc” that will show you what node is intercepting clicks. I’d bet your Control node is stopping mouse input, or another node in the greater scene tree.

It truly was another Control node intercepting the clicks, thanks for the “Misc” tab tip though, didn’t know about that :smiley:
