Just as hobbyist I wondered :
If certificates hold any weight for people
Does it make difference when someone looking for job or have their inbox full of them
Just as doing courses most of platforms provides certificate , so I assume it probably not useful itās more marketing thing to return customer for more

I can only tell you about personal experience:
In my country of France most certificates are almost completely worthless, unless they are provided by a school, so things like the TOEIC and other fancy exams that you pay for and go to a physical location to be tested on.
Then you can be totally clueless, but if you somehow managed to get a Masters in a nice Uni youāll get a job. I once worked with a guy doing a Doctorate, he could write a perfect SQL query by hand on paper but he did not know what a āfor loopā was.
I also met HR people that psychoanalyses you based on the colors you choose to use in your resume.
I know I am very defeatist about this, but sometimes I feel job recruitment is 90% vibes based, at least until you get to the point you meet the technical team and/or get a technical test.
But to get from the pile of emails to the select few that get to do the technical test? As far as Iām concerned, the angle of the sun in the recruiterās window in the morning is as good an indicator as whatever is on your resumeā¦

Certificates indicate to me that someone has no practical job experience, and that the person does not know enough about software development to know that people are looked down upon for having certificates. Iād rather see someone who did a coding bootcamp and has personal projects theyāre proud of than someone with a bachelorās degree, certificates, and has never programmed anything for fun.
