Chuckle Express is the first commercial game I’ve published and I wanted to make a game that runs across many devices with flexible inputs. You can play it via touchscreen, mouse, keyboard or gamepad. The game tries to fit in many different screen resolutions and aspect ratios as well since I wanted to support desktop and mobile at the same time.
In the game you play a train driver that’s supposed to complete deliveries for their boss. But they are pretty annoyed when you are late and across the train tracks walk a ton of people all the time. The train can jump left and right between those tracks to potentially shorten your route or avoid hitting people. But it’s up to the player to decide what to prioritize.
It’s based on a prototype from an earlier game jam and inspired by games like Subway Surfers, Temple Run and Robot Unicorn Attack. Also media like ASDF movie were quite a stylistic inspiration and the philosophical trolley problem. It is only cartoonic art style but still kind of graphical. So I will only post links to the pages here:
The version on Steam utilizes GodotSteam to work with the Steamworks API and the version on Itch is DRM-free. On both platforms you can get a free demo to play.
If there are any technical questions on how I implemented certain parts of the game, I’m happy to answer your questions.
