Clipping mask is black?

Question

I’m using a 3D sprite with the texture set to use a viewport. Inside the viewport is a 2D sprite(makeup_mask) that I use as a clipping mask for other 2D sprites(makeup). The clipping mask is set to draw only, but instead of being transparent the entire mask is being set to black.
