I just wanted to share my project where I play with Compositor Effects. You may have seen my posts in the Godot subreddit. I wanted to post here so I could better discuss it with others.
Let me know what you think, and if you have any questions. As well as any effects/techniques I should check out.
Current Notable Things
Stencil Buffer Texture
Workaround for accessing the Stencil Buffer. Can be used in a CompositorEffect, shader, and even from code.
Outlines
Stencil, Depth & Normal based outlines.
Panini Projection
Reduce distortion with wide-angles.

That’s cool. I’ve been wanting to play around with the Stencil Buffer feature since it was added, as 3D outlines were a nightmare and didn’t really do what you want. I took a look at the Readme of your repo. Really interesting stuff. A lot to dig into just to get a nice outline on a 3D object though.
Have you considered making just an outline plugin?

Most of it is just boilerplate for getting a compute shader up and running. Once you’re past that, the logic itself isn’t too bad. Now the work to get there originally… 
I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.
No plans for a plugin, but you can just drag and drop the effect folder into your project and it should work out of the box.
