Corn field with a special field of view

I am trying to make a top down maze game where you run through corn maze, but because of it being top down you can see parts of the maze, i dont want that

I am thinking of using area2d and titlemap. where when cells collides with the area2d it will disappear and then appear again when cells are not in contact withe the area2d.

but other ideas would be great

Could try 2D lights, not sure how they interact with tilemaps
