Cue2 - Playback and showcontrol for events

Hello Godot friends,

Cue2 is my opensource media project.
Built with FFmpeg, Sdl3 and Godot I’ve made a playback and show control app for the events industry. Primarily in support of community performing arts.
It lets you add audio and video into a cuelist with numerous playback controls and sequencing.
It features a video canvas for video output where you can target visual media to specific layers that can be laid out dynamically over your screens.
It also feature a routing matrix so audio can be sent to specific output channels.

You can download it from the website here: https://www.cue2.live/
Source code can be found here: GitHub - Tech-mop/Cue2: Playback software for events · GitHub

If this is somewhat in your wheel house give it a “GO”! I’d love to hear your feedback.

v0.1.1 is now out which includes a number of stability improvements and fixes.
The most critical fix pertaining to playback is for video with embedded audio that underflows the video content would get stuck unfinished in active cue. When audio is EOS and SDL queue has drained, software now switches from audio clock to wall time rebased to last audio position so remaining frames present and EOF can be reached.

Funnily enough this bug was discovered with the big buck bunny video, which has a very entertaining frame to get stuck on for those with an unsophisticated sense of humor like myself!

Overall the responses I’ve had regarding v0.1.0 have been great and overall not many issues have been found. It has also been used on a number of events already, hopefully as confidence grows in it’s reliability we’ll see it out on events more often.

The software has a built in updater! Found in Settings → Updates.
Otherwise the latest release and change notes can be downloaded from Github: Release Cue2 0.1.1 StripyHat · Tech-mop/Cue2 · GitHub

With the software being proven fairly stable now, I’m looking toward version 0.2 next which is going to focus on expanding the audio toolkit and add live audio inputs and timecode.

Whoa… Is this inspired by like YouTube and other social media platforms or am I getting the wrong idea.

Hi Swordstudios thanks for the response, the core purpose of the software is to support community theatre - often zero budget live performances. But it can be used in any situation requiring playback for audio or video. It’s like VLC but with extensive controls on how and when files play.
For example you can group a bunch of sound effects together (like gun fire) and have them play in a sequence of your predetermined timing all at different volumes and out of different audio outputs by only pressing play once.

Work on v0.2 is well underway.
The software now support audio inputs. The way it works:
-Create a patch in settings
-Patch can contain multiple inputs that are mixed to a sub-master
-Input patch can be assign to a cue via audio inspector (This assigns a audio input component)
-This can then be routed to an output patch and matrix routed similar to file playback.
-When cue plays it’ll enable those inputs to output as configured.
It also supports numerous playback controls similar to other components such as built-in fades.
This stack of methods can allow for very easy live inputs with comprehensive routing ability.

Cue2 now also support audio devices with up to 64chs.
To support this the output matrix was rebuilt (for like the 6th time) to better display large devices. It now also loads faster too.
