Custom resource utilities

Question

Hi guys, as per the question I am brainstorming a lot regarding a custom resource in godot. To that end I want to ask: does it represent a way to simplify development? Or a way to create any game object such that even if I end up with a simple 2D node I could still create interactivity by taking advantage of the “resource object” I just created? Informing myself better on the web I know that a custom resource is used to handle data between nodes, however this way of handling data I still don’t really understand it and I would like to be sure. If anyone would like to give me a clear explanation, I thank you in advance.
