Cutting holes in polygons (2D)

I am not sure how the plugin will treat the required collision areas if you set no fill. If you want to be sure set a fill. You can make it transparent by setting the alpha channel lower.

Ok probably one final question, can you have more than one fill colour in each country?

What would that look like? Like provinces?

Could try to make a copy of the country and use cutout-operations to make those:
https://inkscape.org/doc/tutorials/advanced/tutorial-advanced.html (under boolean operations)

I’m not sure if the example will work with them, maybe if you make a deeper nested subgroup around them.

You can always copy those to a new file and import that separately without running the example script on them..

PS: if you reply to one of my answers I will get a notification. Otherwise I may miss it.

My map has island provinces which encompass lots of little islands and the sea around them, with the sea being one colour and the islands being a different colour.

I’m not sure what the best way of making it work would be, as ideally both the islands and the sea would go transparent when hovered over.

I’d suggest see how far you get on your own, maybe share some screenshots of what happens and what you want to happen?

Of course you could DM me the file if you still need help. You can reach me via discord too if you join the plugin’s server. That may be easier to communicate than on a public forum like this:

Alright final final question (maybe), does the code ignore anything I haven’t put in a group (e.g. aesthetic only sections of the map which won’t be turned into provinces)

En ik wist neit dat je nederlands was, ik ben ook nederlands!

Hi!

No it will not ignore them. You could put them in a different file or you could adapt the script a little. But what would be best is if you use a systematic approach where you test your work with code to see the effect while your still working on it.

Without this approach it will take much longer to learn new things. Also to communicate your progress.

:person_shrugging: Tja, we zijn maar mazzelaars he?

Ok so I have finally finished the map, but I can’t get the scalable vector shapes tab to appear at the bottom of the godot project, even after enabling the plugin as shown in the video you sent earlier

(As you can see, not next to the Shader Editor tab despite the option being ticked and having followed your instructions)

Any idea as to why this is the case?

This may take a while to debug. Maybe you can send me a direct message via the forum or join the discord via the link I shared earlier.

Anyway. First thing I would advise you try is close the project and reopen it.

Are you on Godot 4.4 or higher?

Godot 4.7.1

Although wait it’s alr reloading fixed it
