Do I have to understand Blender to use .blend files?

Godot Version

4.3

I am a complete 3D noob, so sorry for the silly question. I installed blender and set the import path in Godot, so I thought I would be able to use some free .blend files from online resources. I tried downloading some files to test from https://blendswap.com, but none of them are working like I would expect. The meshes are there but none of the materials and textures show up when I import the scene to Godot. The models are all white. I assume this has something to do with the node graphs in Blender not being exported and imported properly? Do I have to modify the blend files or setup the proper materials and textures in Godot?

Edit: I am using Blender 4.1

If it is a blend file you have to make sure all your textures are saved locally to your blend file if you want to export / import it. I am not sure if that applies to the direct Godot import though. If you export it’s as a Gtlf2.0 your textures should be all in the exported file so no need to manually set anything up.
