Does _process run before or after _physics_process?

Question

I have read that animation logic should be in _process and not _physics_process. Howerver, my animation is based on my velocity which is calculated in _physics_process. Therefore, won’t my animations lagg 1 frame after if _physics_process is calculated after _process?

Quoting the documentation:

The function _process() is not synchronized with physics. Its rate depends on hardware and game optimization. It also runs after the physics step in single-threaded games.
