Editor-created subresources won't save?

Question

I’m using ResourceSaver.save() to handle my save data. My save data has some subresources that I created in the editor with Create New → Resource. (So that I could control base stats for various characters, that sort of thing.)
These editor-created resources don’t seem to be saved in the same way a “New Resource” would be. Instead, it just seems to save pointers or something like that.
What is the simplest way to get ResourceSaver.save() to save these editor-created subresources like it normally would?

This is a tricky subject. I am aware that there is an old bug surrounding resources and this kind of side-effect is something I also suffer from. All I can suggest is: manually save (in gdscript/etc.) all resources you want saved. (See ResourceSaver.save() )
