Hey everyone,
I’ve been using Blender for about 15 years now. While I might not be a master modeler, I definitely know my way around the software, including how to create sprite atlases with JSON.
What I’m Building
-
The Project: A 2D retro-style soccer/football game (think classic FIFA), but modernized with better graphics (and cartoonish).
-
The Asset Pipeline: I’ve already created movesets rendered from 8 different camera angles, where each moveset corresponds to one atlas. (idle, walk, run, sliding tackle, rough tackle, header), I might add more animations, I try to make the game/workflow “modulable”.
-
My Background: I have a clear vision for fast development and understand game architecture and implementation well—I just lack the programming skills to write the code myself.
(And yes, I currently use AI to code, which is either magical or like working with a brilliant 5-year-old who needs the same instruction five times!) - But it’s exhausting, because everytime I add a feature, it’s a risk of programming crash/issues
What I’m Looking For
I am searching for a programmer who wants to team up as a hobby/passion project to build and release games together during our free time.
-
The Goal: To develop and sell quality, non-crappy games on Steam, focusing primarily on PC.
-
Location Preference: I am currently selling my house and planning to move to Spain. Ideally, I would love to find a local/in-person partner so we can occasionally meet up, work side-by-side, and keep the momentum going. I’ll normally settle in Castellón area (I’m still currently selling my house)
I can currently fully work on this but it won’t always be the case.
But if things work, it might be a serious job (and hopefully a fun one)
Hablo tambien español, pero necesito mejorarme (tengo el diploma B1)
What I’ve done so far
A menu with animated 3D flags and “selectable countries”
A customizable pitch (with different grass patern)
A player (without head) → just to check if the animations are ok (and they are)
Why no head ? → Because I think I’ll split a single player into layers :
- Head
- arms/legs (matching face color, but I might also add tattoos)
- body (Needed for the different kits, but I might also create different body shapes)
- shoes (so not all players have the same shoes)
Though not all players will have this complex layering system, like for the referee I was thinking to render everything and create like 10 different refs)
If I’m not wrong, it would be a peace of cake for current hardware.
I only test with one player and animations worked perfectly (atlas size varies between 2048x2048 to less), I use : Free Sprite Sheet Generator & Packer | SpritePacker to create the atlas, so atlas size varies (and tha’t’s why I need json)
Obviously I won’t use real names or brands (everything is fictionnal)
What are your advices ?
I don’t want to lose my ideas/artworks
