Game in development: Omnislate

**OMNISLATE: Legend of the Skyward Hero

(Note: Some graphics may get more detailed later if I get tired of looking at them)
(I actually had my party nearly wiped out multiple times taking these screenshots)

A Super Famicom JRPG… Made in 2026

I’m building Omnislate the way a 1993 Super Famicom developer would have built it—If they had Godot, an open-source pixel-art software, and the actual audacity to pull off my crazy ideas.

**And that’s not all:

All the music is** composed in SNESTracker using real BRR samples, it uses real Super NES music that I compose myself; in fact, if i wanted to, I could make a game OST player cartridge for my SFC; that’s the authenticity used.

Core Gameplay (really the bare-bones, i expand this much):

NesuPower System (Hebrew roots, replacing “magic”):
Uses MP (Mind Points—totally original abbreviation, definitely the first person to think of this genius 2-letter combo)
Powers channeled through faith, which lies in the Mind, not mana bars, it can also be used
In-battle AND for puzzle-solving: Need to light a torch in a dungeon? Channel FireNesu. Totally original mechanic, never been done before–EVERRR!!!

The game’s battle system is designed like chess;
one character acts at a time, but defending doesn’t consume your turn
:
High-defense ally protects your glass-cannon attacker while they deal massive damage,
I also heard it said that if the hero defends certain allies in a battle, it can have unexpected pleasant results…
However; only characters who ACT earn experience; Every party member needs a unique role in the team.

**The progression system In a nutshell:

No set classes**; for stats determine your role (high ATK/DEF = Warrior, high Mind = Sage),
leveling-up offers ability choices (learned at next level-up)—
Rumor has it certain skill combos unlock Fisher, Farmer, Monster Tamer classes and perhaps more…
Permanent character creation choices included: Hair color = personality (anime-authentic, totally not me being lazy), and no this does not apply to the player, which is basically your avatar in the game world.

The “Slate” System:

Slates are ancient stone tablets with random map coordinates, these coordinates lead to random secrets that can be treasures, dangerous foes, or… something you’d NEVER expect
(That’s half the reason it’s called Omnislate. The other half is spoilers.)

Multiplayer Features are to include PVP strategic battles, Item/monster trading, and a
slate exchange system

**Current Status: **

Battle system: Complete (OK, i am still working on some special effects),

Party management: Complete,

Equipment/inventory: Complete,

Level-up system: Complete (-ish, working out some kinks),

BRR audio composition: In progress,

World Map: Basically finished (working on towns, temples, etc. ),

Party Chat/NPC Dialog/Story Progression: Still working on it
(Writing all the text without an assistant is exceedingly tiring),

Language Support: English, Japanese (I hope to work on others, but I can’t translate to every language in human history)

Interested? Got Feedback?

Let me know. Honest feedback appreciated. Questions answered when I can. This is a solo project, so I am doing my best to make something genuinely worth your time, not just another “retro” cash-grab.

This is a PC game, and hopefully for Switch as well if Nintendo is interested in partnership; it is built with SNES authenticity, not an actual cartridge release. Think of it as “the SNES game that never was.”

I would recommend using either a crisp pixel font or higher resolution for UI text. Or both and give the player a choice which one to use.

Ahh, aye, eventually i hope to make my own pixel font, but it is a project for when i want an excuse to stop writing dialog or something, sadly, my game actually uses the literal resolution that the SNES used…. i guess it cant get smaller than a pixel?

Thank you very much for your feedback

Thank you!! I have been waiting for someone to mention the SNES references; I try to be authentic as possible, after all, I don’t have a real SFC on my desk for no reason
