Game inspirations, How was this made?

I’m always curious about how things works, by breaking and fixing them.

There wasn’t many games which would stands out for me in RPG world apart from Witcher.

But what inspiring devs or future devs when they making their dream games?

As this was discussed before the aesthetics of large studio is pointless to try make for solo dev.

But what about mechanics and game feel?

Is there some games which stands out for you and inspired you to come back to them and remake the feel of it?

When comes to remaking something like “npc behaviours”, do you think of it as list of conditions, or researching if someone done it and trying to adapt it to your view?

I see some of the topics as procedural generating of terrain, foliage or state machine seem to be quite common obstacle.

I really enjoyed editing and starting from scratch project, but always seem to come to point where I start to see obstacles such viewport in full screen stretching, which was welcomed in empty project by warning message it doesn’t work for embedded window/ stretching option check in subviewportcointainer.

I still thankful for chance to learn from editing Full Code for Rick O'Shea Released , it great to be able to break it and see what will happen, and how to fix it.

Currently think about what to put into my Portal Ranger to make it feel more like game.

Mainly it’s 3D Adventure RPG.

Back to point of topic, when you test/play some game do you often analyse it how it was made?

Some titles in RPG genres which are classic and should be considered when making RPG games?
