Godot Version
Godot 4.7.2 stable
Question
I was trying to start Godot 4.7.2 on Windows 11. Seems that it is blocked by Microsoft’s Smart App Control. Unfortunately, disabling Smart App Control is not an option for me. And based on my research it seems not possible to create an exception for a single app in Smart App Control.
Anyone having the same problem? Does any one know, if there is a previous version 4 of Godot that is normally not blocked by Smart App Control? That would save me some time, before I go my way back with trial and error version by version downwards.
Thank you for any ideas and input.
Where did you download Godot from? Does the itch version work maybe, or the one from Steam?
Back in the days, I downloaded it from the official website. I downloaded it from the official website again today, started it directly from the download-folder after extracting it - and it worked like a charm.
I then went then to my program files folder where I have stored the version that was blocked and klicked on it - works, too.
BUT if I use the desktop link I created that is pointing to exactly that same file, it gets blocked. So the problem seems to be rooted in linking to godot from my desktop. I am going to further investigate on that and let you know if there is a solution to it.
In the meantime I can just start Godot directly from the directory, so we can consider the main problem as solved.
I have the same problem. Shortcuts are blocked, but I can open the application directly with the .exe.
