Question
Hey guys,
So I started working on a small prototype for a 2d, isometric pixel-art game. I picked some placeholder assets and decided to start with the environment (it’s a city).
Now, the issue I have is quite simple: the placeholder tile sets I found are rhombi with diagonals of two different lengths (longer horizontally, which I’m sure is common in many games), whereas the isometric tile shape in the TileSet dropdown only allows a rhombus tile with diagonals of equal length. Is there a workaround for this? Thanks!
PS here’s a screenshot of one of the asset tiles I’m using for reference:
Properly set the TileSet’s tile_size before creating the tiles. It’s just the default size of 16x16 px causing the square shape.
But the issue is that the tiles should have diagonals of different lengths and I don’t really see an option for that.
If I understood your question correctly, what you can do:
Go in the TileSet options, set Tile Shape to Isometric and set the Tile Size where x and y are differently (depending on your 2D Art). Then you have a TileSet which is longer horizontally (x = 32px) and the vertically (y=16px)
This was it, thank you. I was confusing the texture region with the tile size; once I adjusted that according to the pre-made tiles I had downloaded, the grid adjusted accordingly. Thanks!!
