Google play, but better not apple appstore?

Hi everyone,
reaching the end of development of my little mobile-app I here and there stumble over information that (other than on google-play) there could unexpected “future-issues” come up when putting it on the apple app-store. I hear about apps running fine only to break with the next iOS-update and then running fine again with the update after that… with potentially lots of disappointed users and therefore bad reviews in the meantime.
As a humble one-man developer I wouldn’t be able to test and redo my app on every system-update, so in order to avoid problems I’d rather not publish the app on iOS at all. Am I only being paranoid or are there indeed known issues in that regard?
