How can I make an object react to shadows cast by lighting? So that the object does not have shadows from other objects, it was purely monophonic and reacted only to lighting.

It says it’s 3D in the tags.

But I honestly have no idea what the question in the title means.
Do you want your object to cast or not cast shadows? Or do you want your object to have or not have shadows casted on them? Or anything else completely?
On top of that, “monophonic” is a sound related term, not visual or lighting, so that confuses me even more.
