How to count Sprite2D overlaps

Hi all,

I have a Sprite2D instance (with a CollisionShape2D as a child). I need to keep a count of how many other Sprite2D instances overlap with other Sprite2D instances.
Would I need to use a signal from the CollisionShape2D (rectangle)?
