After several days of intense coding, I finally published my game **Funy Magic Survivor** on Itch.io!
🎮 **What is it?**
A roguelike survival game where you play as a wizard with auto-attack. Waves of enemies come at you, you collect experience, level up, and choose from 16 unique upgrades. Survive 30 waves to win!
🛠️ **Tech Details:**
- Made in **Godot 4.7**
- Everything runs in a **single Node2D** — no scenes, no multiple scripts
- **2200+ lines of GDScript**
- All visuals are drawn with `_draw()` — circles, lines, polygons
- Custom particle system, damage numbers, lightning effects
- 10 passive abilities that unlock every 5 levels
- 30+ enemy types with unique behaviors
- Tesla Coil ability (extra projectiles become chain lightning!)
- Boss fights every 5 waves
- Full audio with smooth transitions
📚 **What I learned:**
- Single-file architecture can work for mid-size games
- Optimization is crucial (limited particles to 300, pickups to 100)
- Procedural enemy generation keeps things fresh
- `_draw()` is powerful but needs careful management

If you want feedback, I don’t think you can expect people to pay you to test your game. In my professional experience, it’s usually the other way around

Out of interest, what makes you say that? I don’t see any use of generative AI, but maybe you know something I don’t?

The way the introduction text flows, the cute emojis instead of bullet points are all hallmarks of LLM generated text. I surmise if they are not disclosing their usage forthwith or making the little effort to make it less obvious, chances are they used it for the entire project.
I might be wrong, of course.

So nobody is going to play Grand Theft Auto VI ? because NPC’s using AI to generate random stuff.. soon or later it will bleed into all games, life and work.. SeeAI as a tool, not as replacement. you are the “dirigent” of the orchestra.. “be creative”.

If they disclosed it and did not use a mechanism that violated copyright, it’s perfectly ethical.
Whether it’s a language model introducing random behavior patterns or another AI mechanism won’t much bother people, as long as it’s disclosed and trained in an ethical manner.
The franchise allows for characters being a bit delusional like an LLM will be at undetermined times. Will probably be just as fun to interact with as with ChatGPT.
What @OleNic means is that here we disclose usage of generative AI, just like they disclosed it for GTA VI.
One reason is that most applications of the technology that we encounter here were not entirely ethical when it comes to how they came about their data, though it remains hard to prove.

So you consider the use of emojis in a topic sufficient evidence that the game is probably made entirely with AI? I find that baffling. As far as I know you’re an adult… is this really what it’s come to, grown men flinging derisive comments with no evidence, just on the off-chance someone has overstepped?
I think we, as adults, should set an example and at least be sensible and polite, if accusations need to be made. A simple “did you know that you should disclose use of AI” would suffice… and as you later acknowledged, you might be wrong.

Don’t you think the onus should also be on people joining the community to know about the community?
We’re seing a bunch of first posts asking us to pay to give feedback?
I have zero tolerance for AI slop, and this is has the hallmarks of being such a case.

Exactly. AI is a tool to skyrocket your ideas and blow your own mind. That’s what it is. Nothing less, nothing more. YOU have to make the decisions to get the built right.
But to ask for money for a feedback is a whole different story and has nothing to do with AI. It’s about character…

I have been trying really hard not to take the bait again, but I think it’s almost impossible to prevent a discussion devolving into what you call AI-discussion-slop here.
Personally, I consider people who are really passionate about (big expensive) LLM technology as victims of an extractive form of unbridled capitalism (capitalism bridled by fair regulation is ok, bty the way).
Let’s not please pretend that what’s happening now is a benign thing!
All the money in the world is being rapidly extracted by a few individuals that gleefully have been saying: disruption! Yay!
There used to be a decent wage to be earned in the creative sector. Now, even if you try to adapt, you will be paying a massive sum for the tokens you burn so you end up dead poor anyway.
So maybe, I’m thinking, it’s a better plan to keep trying to have this polarized discussion after all.

I think, unfortunately, in the history of technology, there has never been an example of “putting the genie back in the bottle”. AI is here to stay, and like most technologies, it’s only going to improve. Sorry.
I also cringe when I hear AI music, and I’m personally against the commercialization of AI, but what people do with it - sometimes literally in their bedrooms - is beyond my control, and my moral authority.
In any case, this discussion was about when to assume someone is using AI, and how to respond to that. In my opinion, anyone should be given the benefit of the doubt when there is no proof against them, but not everyone shares that opinion. That’s okay - we’re all different, we’re all allowed our opinions. But where some campaign for crucifying any user of AI on principle, I campaign for open-mindedness, as well as I can. ‘Please do not get angry about this’

I think we’ve stated our opinions, and I see very little chance that either is going to change our opinions as a result. You’re clogging up a showcase topic with a discussion that doesn’t belong here, and to be honest, I think you’re here to preach your views, not to change them.
