I would like you to help me make improvements

You know when you load up the first level it brings up a white screen with text. That text explains all of the new monsters for that segment. Here,

Does this help with your understanding of the game?

What I think you can improve:

  1. Add some scary music, like this one: https://pixabay.com/music/build-up-scenes-horror-horror-trailer-520612/
  2. Make the monsters scarier and make the jump scares more intense.
(Use a better sound effect that plays when the monster catches you)
  3. The UI is just…
  4. People don’t like reading tutorials. Most games make the tutorial interactive.

I also recommend watching some videos on how to make games scarier. There are tons of videos about making horror games. (I’ve never made a horror game myself, though.)
And her is even more music: https://pixabay.com/music/search/horror/

I am uploading changes and I don’t know how to make the best horror and I made my music a bit scarier. This is my second horror game and my first one was a 2 day challenge I gave myself. I hope this makes it just a little better.

Her is a great artikle about horro game design: 10 design lessons learned from 30 years of horror games
And what i mean with music is some backround music (wich plays the whole time exept for jump scares) something like i linked you too.

Edit: The game is a bit to hard. The best design desison is to not let the player walk,(missing abilatys are a great way to scare) and i recoment to polish the game a bit.

What more I can do to polish it in specific?

Also, I am not a music creator, and I can’t just steal someone else’s music.

And for the game being harder, it takes practice and I personally love that in a game.

also this was a bit hard to read.

I am not trying to be rude, and you have actually been very helpful.

Now I’m going to go polish what I can.

And thanks for helping me. + I made a few more changes by pretending I did not make it and played through it… the music is a banger.

It is fine to use premade assats (Just credit the artist), the one i linked you too is free to use in a game project (check the licenze).

PS: sorry for the hard to read text’s (English is not my native lenguage).

It’s not that, it’s just that I don’t like using other people’s work it just feels wrong to me. But I will try it.

Also you are fine for the misspells :slightly_smiling_face: .

I updated a music patch. This was not big and updated credits.

What level are you stuck on?

I am stuck on level 2.

Yeah the game just takes practice. Did the music help?

I have not played since the last update.
But i can check.

I think the music is a bit to silent.
And it fels kinda usless to add a flashlight button to the phone bc i turn it on and then i ignore the button.

Yeah I can fix those but the reason I have Q flashlight button is because I wanted a monster that would kill the player if they had the flashlight on for too long but I couldn’t get the code to work. I will work on the music.

After listening to the music, I believe that it is better quieter and that it is better for ambiance. And I think that I can fix the flashlight issue.

Edit: I made a power system that affects your flashlight I am wondering if I should make it from 1st test to final test or if I should make it start at the 3rd test? I will wait for a reply.

I just realized I never uploaded the music patch but that’s fixed now and it is way creepier. It is better with headphones.

My motivation to play your game isn not that big because you only came to this forum to get free playtesters, which isn’t really cool. This forum is about giving and getting feedback. There are other people here who need feedback too. These people have given feedback on my game and other games, tested them, and helped others with their problems.

Another thing: I said the game is too hard, and it is. Maybe it’s not for you because you playtested it a lot while developing it, and yeah, maybe I need more practice. But I don’t want to spend hours playtesting games from people who just want free playtesters and give nothing back to the forum.

Thing you can polish.

1 Your art.
2 Your sound and music.
3 Your ui.
4 The balancing of the game.
