I’m making a space game a kind of mix between outer wilds, sea of thieves and lethal company. In the centre of the universe there is a mix of a gravitational and cosmic singularity as well as some other things. However as a singularity has no confirmed visual look I want ideas of how it should look.
For those who don’t know what a singularity is. A cosmic singularity is the theorised thing before the big bang it has infinite temperature and also is infinitely dense.
A gravitational singularity is theorised to be in the middle of a black hole it has infinite mass and is infinitely dense.
Well, technically a singularity wouldn’t have a visual appearance as an object with infinite mass would not let any light escape. But I do really like the thought experiment of what a singularity could look like. ^^
An “infinite temperature” immediately made me think of this video below. A simple cyan color might not be that super exciting though. Alternatively you could work with green or magenta, as those are two colors that rarely appear in space due to the way our human color perception works.
Maybe throw in a gravitational lensing shader and add some chromatic aberration and you’ve got yourself something pretty unique looking that differs from all the other objects in space. :> An object with negative lighting could also be pretty cool, but I don’t know whether Godot supports that or if it would even look any good.
