Is there a way to import a file as more than one data type?

Question

Is there a way to import a file as more than one data type? (without duplicating the file)

For example, I have a bunch of .bmp font spritesheets that I would like to import both as a BitMap and as Font Data in order to use it both as a font and have access to the .get_bit() method when needed.
