I know a lot of the basics but i need someone to explain to me why some things do what they do. As I’m probably doing a LOT wrong and just having someone to talk me through it in discord would help exponentially. Thanks!
Have you read this?
And this?
The first takes an hour or two, the second a little longer. They will teach you how to use the editor, and more importantly give you the language you need to ask questions because it tells you what everything is called.
There are also a lot of really great written tutorials out there and youtube videos.
Might be me reading into this post too much, but don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Just create what you want to the best of your ability. Make it how you know to make it. Then you can improve by sharing your code here. Researching the style guide and all best-practices of software/game development is what actually leads to people getting stuck in tutorial hell and eventually quitting.
If you have something stable, I’d be willing to do a code review to put you in the right direction. I’m not a godot veteran or anything, but I’ve been developing software (and a small godot game) over the past 2 years.
thanks ill send you something if i have any questions!
