cool drawing but I cant help cuz…
very nice indeed
You may very well be able to code your own game, if you reach any hurdles please make a Help post here on the forum; we’re happy to help with small issues.
If you want full-time or even part-time volunteer work you have to make a very, very compelling argument. What is your game? Why is it interesting to work on? How much have you committed? How much work is left? Can I be certain you will hold up your end in completing this project? Sadly in your first post all you’ve told us is that people are leaving the project, which isn’t great marketing for it. Posting images or videos of what you have would be a good start, along with concept art and mood boards if you feel the game itself isn’t very far along.
I am a coder in GDscript, I may be able to help. i will contact you via email, hopefully i can help!
Hi, thanks for typing out to us.
The situation is this: we’re only a small group of only 3 people. And the main coder quit due to personal, academic reasons. That’s left 2 artists. Managing art, a time-intensive sector of the game. And both of us aren’t exactly free on time. The code is bound to be neglected.
We have dedicated our time into this project for a long time. Our first recruitment post was in August 2025, that’s 8 months ago. Dream Walking Simulator Undisclosed Project 56 . We wished not for a very open marketing strategy because of the secretive nature of the game, and to opt for more frequent updates would result in a change in the very nature of the game, thus it would be a measure even more desperate that what we’re doing right now.
We plan for at least a small demo to push things along. We’re willing to take anything: it’s a walking sim, it just need to walk, and a good enough menu and save. We can even forgo dialogue. just get it going. Just don’t let it flop. We just want our efforts not to go to waste.
I hope this message meant well for you, and I hope you’ll understand our current predictament. Thank you for your time.
I think the main concern was the complete lack of information provided in the post at all.
When making a request such as this, you should at least mention the genre of the game, the main goal(s), and most importantly, how much you’re willing to pay for someone’s time.
If it’s an unpaid position, it’s especially important to explain everything, so people can decide if they want to give their time to the project for free or not.
2 artists on the project yet you’ve hardly shown any images. I’d expect to see at least 5 alluring mockups. You don’t need coders for that. Or do you?
Come on, give us some eye candy.
thank you very much ![]()
Noted. We’ll make sure to improve upon that the next time.
The genre of this game would be atmospheric walking simulator, with a side of psychological horror. The goal is to walk and explore. The game would be freeware while both of us do not have any funds available. Thus, we’re compromising by lowering the complexity of the project for at least a demo, stated earlier
We have a post written earlier with more details here: Dream Walking Simulator Undisclosed Project 56
Sure, let me polish one of them.
I can learn how to draw if I like. I tried, and I know I can make art for my game even if everybody else would hate it. I am just lazy.
It looks like you’re not lazy. But you don’t want to learn the (crappy) code to get some tiny bits moving. Busy you say. Maybe you don’t want the game. Maybe you want to be famous for making a game. Imagining yourself driving community around the game and stuff. Selling merch, becoming rich, having fun. Maybe that’s why you want to OWN the game and the UNIVERSE. I must admit, I want it too. But I am lazy. If I was not, I would already join some existing project that already has something done right.
Get your developer here speaking. Let him tell us what he thinks doesn’t work in such cases. Maybe we can create a story to tell. A horror walking psychological simulator of a lone shy introvert dev in a world of extrovert artists. A lone guy who would like to hide in his cave from those big talking and demanding heads that pursue him around.
(P.S. Clouds are really nice)
He quit to focus on his finals, it’s completely unrelated to our requests, the menu and UI wasn’t even implemented when he left. I self-learned art a couple years ago, but as I age I now take on yet more responsibility regarding schoolwork and career, and I just can’t muster as much time and energy as before. The existence of this post is already a source of embarrassment for us, I can’t believe our game would come to such a pathetic state, maybe after we have found a suitable coder I’ll ensure I find a hole and stay in it for a week because I had allowed this post to exist.
Are you able to build the game and make it run without him?
I attempted to add a “z” button. Then for some reason it doesn’t respond some of the times and I can’t seem to fix it. With my skill issue and my due assignments I decided it’s not worth it in the long run.
