Making an mechanich were an enemy launches to the player

Question

I’m making a doom-clone, with some inspiration in modern shooters like ultrakill, and doom mods like brutal doom, there is a mechanic in brutal doom where the enemy launches to the player like in the video, and I want to replicate it.

How do I do that?

This tutorial is for 2d but the same principles would apply to 3D. You can probably find a 3D version online as well.
