Hi All,
This is the first dev update for the game I’m making for, and staring, my kids : “Max 'n Jackson”. Heavily inspired by Hades and Diablo but more kid friendly.
There’s been lots of dev and it’s finally in a state where I’m happy to share a video, to help me try and stay motived - it’s been a lot of work with not much to show for it… yet:
This is a randomly generated ‘Temple’ themed level with static enemies.
A few ‘highlights’ I’m quite proud of in the current state of development are :
- the stones in the walls are all unique using MeshInstance3D so there is no visual repetition - 1 sculpted stone gives 48 variations using rotation and mirroring + colour and size variation : something nobody will will ever notice but me.
- the sand is generated after the level, it gathers in corners and near obstacles
- the camera rig shaders to match the outlined / wireframe vision I had in my head - a feature only used in editor to aid in setting up cinematics
Editor screen shot showing the afore mentioned highlights :
Cheers
James
