One person for voice acting?

Helloooooo :3

Im making a game, and i dont have any other voice acting than myself (im a relatively okay VA, i cn put emotion into my voice and act okay enough, and im very excited about voiceacting).

What do yall think about only one person voice acting multiple different characters in a game? Is there any way to change my voice without using AI, like deepening it? And what do you think about only cutscenes having voice acting and mixing it with 8-bit style dialogue for background characters?

(For context i dont use AI at all, no chatgpt or stuff, i refuse to replace humanness with a robot like that)

Basically, what do you think about every major character being voiced by one person?

I think it’s fine if you do all the voices. But you have to make them as distinct as possible. Not silly accents necessarily but some different intonation at least. Perhaps don’t use a voice changer of any sort. You’d be amazed what you can do with some basic sound effects and equalisations.

Well that’s that then. If it is something you love doing too, definitely do it yourself. Not just as a great portfolio item for any future career, not just as great practice, but simply because you love doing it. So why not?

Enjoy it! Have fun and just do the best you can with it. Good luck with it and your game!

I made a game where I added some effects through a channel so you couldn’t tell that the voice actor was female by lowering the pitch. I also added an echo because they were inside a helmet. So that when the helmet came off, it was a big plot twist.
