Parse_mapping: Unrecognized input string "8e4f" in mapping Error found while opening scene

Question

Hi, It has been continuously showing that some parse_mapping error while playing a 2d scene.
The issue is after creating a new 2d project with only one scene which contains a Node2D alone, while playing the scene results an error:

E 0:00:00:0215 parse_mapping: Unrecognized input string “8e4f” in mapping:
03000000790000000600000000000000,G-Shark GS-GP702,crc:8e4f,a:b2,b:b1,back:b8,dpdown:h0.4,dpleft:h0.8,dpright:h0.2,dpup:h0.1,leftshoulder:b4,leftstick:b10,lefttrigger:b6,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,rightshoulder:b5,rightstick:b11,righttrigger:b7,rightx:a2,righty:a3,start:b9,x:b3,y:b0,platform:Windows,
<C++ Error> Condition “true” is true. Continuing.
<C++ Source> core/input/input.cpp:1493 @ parse_mapping()

Any idea what’s the cause for this error? I just created another fresh project and played the scene with Node2D, still getting same issue.

parse_mapping() shows there’s a problem with mapping in general, mostly keys or inputMap

"GS-GP702" refers to a device that may be plugged to your PC. By quickly googling it seems like a Joystick or some device. So there may be a conflict.

Also by looking at the error, it states the words strick, trigger, and what looks directional axis with lefty or leftx

If this is the case, try unplugging it and report back.

I’m having the same Issue.

I’ve downloaded Godot over Steam. Since there was an update with the new “Steam Input” for controllers I’m guessing that this is shooting down my scenes. I tried deactivating it, but that doesn’t help.

Interessting to note is also, that it is semi random, when my scenes crash.

I will try installing a non-steam version.

Well, I’m running the latest version from the website and the error is gone.

This doesn’t fix my problem, but at least, the error is gone.

You said

So what is this problem then?

Also, @aryantr1999 have you fixed the error yourself?
If not, try doing what @johannesross did:

Well, I did a big oopsidasy. When I started the game I was dropped into a void.
I then realised, that I started the wrong sence. So it was a layer 8 problem.

after running in the non steam version, error is gone.
