Alright! Been a bit late on updates as I’ve been waiting for things to align..

As I’m preparing for my demo on Steam (I finally got my account approved! Aiming to release it this week!) , I thought I’d share some goodies!

New Title Screen:

Opening cutscene! It’ll go through improvements, but just so you get an idea:

PiN’s had a facelift! And (some of the) UI changes:

End of level sequence (needs another hour or two of work, but)! :

Alright! I think that’ll do it for now. I’ll be setting up the Steam page very soon.

Yeah! I was thinking for the full game, it could load up the biome you were in last time

Excuse the mess! Thought it’d be cool to have a little display at the bottom that tracks you and ghosts during a race

Hey, looking good!
Warning on that triangle cursor in the new main menu. I thought initially that you were flipping up and down between the top and middle option there, but in fact that was just an animation. Motion to give something life is good, but that motion got confusing. Consider keeping the triangle still. Also, I hate to be the critic, but the time trial bar needs a bit more design to it, because in an ideal trial, the ghosts will be quite close to the player. Consider splitting that bar into 5 segments, zoom in on the current segment, showing a bit of the edges of the next and previous segments. That way you can sort of chunk up the race, zoom in to see minor advantages, and even see that someone’s totally off-screen (must be way faster than you!).

Hey! Thanks for the input!!

Yeah great suggestions; originally I was going to have an old school glove pointing at the menu to make it less confusing. I could just remove the animation like you said though.

As for the race UI, its definitely more placeholder for now; but breaking it into zoomable segments sounds pretty awesome. I was going to add tiny speech bubbles to the icons today too (ha! / hey!) depending on who’s overtaken and overtook.

I dont want make the ui too complicated or increase scope too much though; when you mean zooming in to see advantages - do you mean a more detailed map?

The Trials series might be worth looking at for some ghost / race UI inspiration. Although I haven’t played them in a while, and I think they might have used something like you already have

Yeah good shout actually. Goated series too. The checkered finish line could be something to add

There are 3 variations currently; to give the look of npcs spray-painting speed arrows on the runes themselves. And they softly glow

I guess it lacks shading:

you should add some shadow maybe.

Goooood catch. Was so focused on bleeding spray paint around the edges; I forgot shadows.

How about adding a dragon boss fight in PiN : >

If you asked me a few months ago, I’d have said no way; I can’t code that. But yeah, that could be an amazing spectacle boss fight  ….
