Whats up everyone! Been a minute. Had a bit of a break after submitting PiN to a festival. I think there’s still a few weeks before they get back to people; so I don’t have an update on that yet.
I’ve just got back into the swing of things today really; yesterday I was doing a lot of admin stuff.
But I thought I’d drop a small clip to show some tiny visual updates done today. I’m working on completing level 1-3 soon; along with the list of bug fixes both Phoenix and BFranse brought to my attention.
Short list summarising the changes displayed in the clip:
Speed boost animation tweak (his arms swing rapidly instead of being stuck back)
New particle effects
More enemy bubbles
Glumble spirit (a bitter spirit which refuses to be free or move on) but, you can use them as a free spring!
Hope everyone’s well! I’ll leave it with that and come back with more stuff as I get back into the rhythm.
Thanks hail! Got to get it to the point it’s impossible to ignore
Ah the TinyTeams festival mate - their deadline was the 30th of last month. But, it’s probably worth having a look seeing what else is around the corner - you absolutely should submit it. Get more eyes on it!
And thanks! So I’ve just submitted for a grant, which , if successful, I might be able to contract another developer or level artist. I’ve been speaking to a few which have a similar art style to mine, so it could be worth delegating that part to someone.
Outside of that, we’ll see! I want to try a kickstarter as well at some point.
Marketing push / spam towards youtubers and streamers coming soon. After that, I’ll keep developing worlds 2-5 while trying to secure funds.
Early access is a good shout though, it might be worth trying that.
I’m trying to secure sort of green light (whether its a grant, publisher, successful kickstarter etc.) which basically lets me lock down on this game and push towards release.
Awesome, I love the size difference! If the eyes don’t already follow PiN, that would be a nice bit of polish. Maybe just when its been hit, it looks a little oblivious
Basic animations for the boss are in place. Still need some polish, and I haven’t quite added in variations yet (for example, a fist, a more relaxed hand etc). His eyes will also follow the player when he’s about to attack (shout out to phoenix for the suggestion).
I won’t explain too much about him and instead just show you when the whole thing is done .
S rank a world (all levels) and unlock that level’s skin, complete certain requirements to unlock a couple, and I think I might add a cool one to pre-ordering too.
Once the boss is finally done , I’ll be polishing levels 1-2, 1-3 and 1-4.
And with that, we’ll have a complete world and a sort of repeatable formula for worlds 2-5.
I think most if not all of world 1 will be playable in the demo as well.
