I’d like to be able to have a headless 2d scene. This would allow me to use methods i am used to for computation. However, there is no documentation on how to have headless scenes. Help would be appreciated.

why dont you just use a script?

I’d like to use nodes I already know how to use, emulating a raycast is not something I want to figure out. It is an option if I have to.

cant you just create the nodes you want from the script and place it in your scene ? you can just put a empty control node to your main scene and attach your script I never used c# but in gdscript you can basically var node = node.new() then scene.add_child(node) this way you can create and control your nodes in a second script.
or you can create a second scene set up your nodes there then go to your main scene script and instantiate it.

Can you make an instantiated scene invisible? If then. this could be the solution.
