Shadow Artifacts from OmniLight3D

Question

I want to create a small solar system with a sun and a few planets. I gave the sun an OmniLight3D, and noticed that the shadows look weird (see screenshot). Is this a problem of the scale of my planets etc. (planet has radius 20m)? I tried changing the Bias and Normal Bias settings on the OmniLight but it did not resolve the issue.

I think that’s a limitation of the way shadows are done.

You can get detailed orbital mechanics for planets, moons, asteroids… I used data from that to make myself a clockwork solar system for a game prototype a few years back.
