Should there be a godot main page news post about the Forum

I was wondering if we should have more attention on the forum to concentrate discussions?

I feel that the system in place on the forum compared to reddit or other boards is really useful to Godot but I didn’t even know about the forum until watching a Godot Tomorrow stream and hearing it mentioned. (maybe its my ignorance)

I like to think as myself as someone who tries to keep up with Godot but had no idea it had a forum.

I don’t see people recommending to put their questions on the Godot Forum when they go on reddit unanswered for weeks or when multiple people respond with outdated godot 3 information.

I feel that if enough people look at a announcement of the Godot forum on the headline title on the godotengine.org website it would have more people aware of the forum.

Should there be a post about the forum and what it is on the Godot news page?

What are other opinions that you guys have?

What if you didn’t know there is godotengine.org ?

But if you needed to download Godot where else would you go? Thinking about it more, I wonder how many people actually look at the latest news section in general maybe it isn’t even that much.

There was an announcement of the Godot forum on the godotengine.org website (Introducing the new Godot Forum – Godot Engine).

The problem with these announcements is that there will be newer announcements. Whatever there was at the top once will disappear soon and announcing the forum every month annoys the people that look for real news.

@mrcook I think what you’re looking for is for the Forum link to be more prominent and discoverable.

Like in the Godot update blogs, there’s a little blurb of text recommending the Godot Forum. Kinda like how the foundation asks for donations.

If you search for Godot on Google right now, besides for the Godot website, the first thing you see is r/godot.

Pardon my language, but Reddit sucks ASS for asking questions and having meaningful discussions (and in general). But Google search puts it first because of the extremely good SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) of subreddits.

It also doesn’t help that there is a SECOND Godot Forum with and “s”

This is an old forum with less people and less activity. A far cry from the forum we’re on right now.

I even made a discussion topic about it today:

And if you search for Godot programming help, you get the following in this order:

  1. A terrible AI summary
  2. Middling YouTube tutorials
  3. Documentation newbies can’t navigate
  4. Potentially a crappy Reddit thread and/or outdated forum
  5. THEN this Godot Forum.

Unfortunately, the only ones who can maximize the Godot Forum’s discoverability is the Godot Foundation itself. And that doesn’t seem like a high priority.

We don’t even know who maintains and updates this forum. I made another topic about that, but nobody seems to care:

So, yeah. Things look pretty grim for newbies.
