Style editor needs some love

Just spent an entire day trying to do something that seemed simple. Pretty sure that without a lot of help from Gemini I would have given up. I had a button scene that I wanted to use in 2 places for 2 purposes, and wanted the visual style to be different between them.

No need to rant here, but…wow…the Style Editor could really use a makeover, or at least fewer bugs. One bug being that the Save and Save As buttons weren’t enabled.

Wondering if there are plans on the drawing board for a new Style Editor. Even a separate tool would be more helpful than what exists now. If I have to do something similar in the future I’ll just create wholly different button scenes instead because the style editor isn’t usable or well documented.

Yeah it can be a bit complicated at first view, but it is doing alot of work. When you get the hang of it the system makes alot of sense, but at first use it is a bit of a nightmare. Like any complex software I suppose.

Sometimes though, it appears that AI is helping, when in fact it isn’t. Sometimes when learning a new part of the engine, it is better to watch a tutorial, read the docs and play with it in a test project first. AI can lead you into depths of apparent complexity because it fails to explain some basic core concept, or it gets it wrong, or it just makes it up. It has no actual idea of what it is talking about, just spitting out regurgatated stuff it read on reddit.
