Switching players mesh depending on direction?

I have an animation project that I was thinking of turning into a 2.5d game, a side scroll-er kind of like South Park’s Stick of Truth.

I had modeled each char from flat planes for each direction, (front, back, left, right) so I was thinking it might be possible to have the mesh switch depending on what direction is being pushed. I can’t find any info on this and I’m extremely green with Godot, so I was hoping someone might point me in the right direction.

Here is an image showing the Chars for illustration, they are animated and have a rig (not shown in pics)…

I have a whole town of assets built for the main world level, I just gotta learn how to bring this all into Godot and learn GDScript, though the most programing I’ve ever done was HTML decades ago, so it’s pretty much square one for coding. :slight_smile:
