Today, I learned a VERY valuable lesson about multiplayer game development that EVERY multiplayer game dev should follow

TEST. YOUR. GAME. WITH. OTHER. PEOPLE. FIRST!!!

Before ANY other feature is implemented, test to see if your netcode works on both your and another person’s machine.

I made that mistake with Monkanics.

Boy hardy, it’s costing me my freaking sanity right now.

I now have to duplicate my project, remove everything that’s not server creation, client creation, and a player camera, then track down exactly what’s happening.

Thankfully, I’m working with @HyperJragon to sort out the issue. And I wouldn’t have found out my netcode doesn’t work if I didn’t test the game with @carmxdev.

Point is, ask for help and test your multiplayer game ASAP.

It’ll work out in the end, don’t worry.
Just keep calm and be confident in your capabilities to work on the project.

I’m sure it will, but times are pretty turbulent right now.

This post has a happy ending. There’s always hope:
