Where do I begin as someone who needs to learn how to animate?

Godot Version

4.4

Question

Hi there, I am funding a game we are building in Godot. I wrote the entire GDD, wrote the story, built the the world, designed the characters, am funding it with the very limited funds I have etc. It’s a 2D platform game, but we’ve found we’re having an incredibly difficult time finding anyone that can do decent, basic character model animations with IK.

I have 0 experience with programming, developing or animations really.
Most I’ve ever done is create some maps with the first Unreal Tournament editor when I was a kid and a little WC3 & SC2 custom games maps, in ancient times.

I want to learn how to animate for games. My goal is to be able to be very competent in animations for Godot and Unity - will probably switch over to Unity eventually, because even though this current game is close to Beta, I think by the time I am competent with animations, we may have moved on to Unity mainly because I don’t have the budget to find skilled Godot devs.

Could anyone advise me where I should start? What I need to learn how to use first?

I do want to learn ASAP.
I’m starting from more or less 0.
I do have quite a high IQ, so learning and understanding complexities have never been problem for me.
I do have serious attention span struggles though, so crash courses that detail important and essential intricacies would be most suitable.

TL;DR
I want to learn how to animate for games and I’m starting from 0.
I want to learn asap and be adept with Godot IK asap.
Where do I start?

Thanks.

If you want to just dive in and learn, probably your best bet are youtube tutorials.

I can recommend courses on Udemy for a quickstart. I took a few and learned more and in a more organized way than I’ve could via YouTube Tutorials. But they could be a good supplement. Courses are on sale every week, sometimes for only 10 Euro.
