Why is the start screen in my Godot project forever, and it just doesn't start?

So, I switched from Scratch to Godot 2 days ago, so please explain it in that way, that I understand.

So, I’m currently watching this Platformer tutorial, but when I try to start the game, the screen with the Godot logo just is there forever. Why?

The default template for the forum post tells you to replace a line with your current godot version, could you please tell us which version of Godot you are using?

Furthermore, what are your PCs specs?

I use version 4.7.1 and the specs are like that: 16GB RAM, graphics card 120MB, 1TB Memory

What GPU is it specifically?

Intel Iris Xe

whats your Scratch? Mines is MrBlueFrisk. Also what do you mean Godot logo Is there forever?

My Scratch is therealscratcher15. I mean if I try to open the game (not the engine itself), it just never ends with the godot logo, even though that project is absolutely not filled with content:

Yeah I don’t really know what to do. Sorry :frowning:

Have you tried doing the same in different versions? 3.6, 4.0, 4.5 etc

Try to switch to the Compatibility renderer and see if that fixes your issue.

Do you not get any errors or warnings in the console during runtime of your game? It’s very possible that your game simply crashes or has a bunch of errors as soon as you start it.

I had that same problem because of the rendering drivers but I fixed it with some “hacking” to trick godot, here’s the process. Go to where your godot file is in your file explorer, go to the top where the direction of that file is and click it. Once it is in blue put cmd and hit enter, it should appear a black box (It’s called terminal, basically you can modify your files through there) with some test but don’t worry about it. Go back to file explorer without closing the terminal (The icon should be >_), click change name to your Godot app file only to copy the name of the file. Once that you copied it hit enter and go back to the terminal, paste the name of your file and then this: --rendering-driver opengl3 . In my case the godot app file name is Godot_v4.7.2-stable_win64 so I put Godot_v4.7.2-stable_win64 --rendering-driver opengl3, you should see that Godot opened by itself but don’t panick it’s normal. Go to edit your project, and the load will be almost instantly. Go to project settings and search Rendering Method, change all to gl_compatibility and save and close the terminal. Godot will also be closed but once you enter again it should work perfectly without too much time to wait, I hope it helps.

The problem is because when godot is installed the base rendering driver is set to vulkan, which if your pc doesn’t support vulkan (like mine’s) it will last an eternity to load a single project (I’ve waited half an hour and still didn’t opened when it was in vulkan). While OpenGL is older than Vulkan it’s a highly and stable besides a widely supported graphic
