I’m wondering if anyone would play a game that I’m making from the ideas I have for it:
I’m wanting to make a game about hunting and capturing animals across planets, you can build bases on the planets, get quests, make friends, have fun, its all 2d top-down Pixel-art style game.
I have big plans including a giant city where people can make shops, build houses, and just explore!
but before I even work on giant cities, 50+ animals, making the world a functioning civilization…
Games that excel at the concepts you mention exist a lot. I think you need to be more precise about how you implement these before anyone really knows what you want your game to be like.
Some games only have one or two of these concepts and they are really good: Slime Rancher lets you capture animals (so to speak), Palworld lets you hunt them, No Man’s Sky has base building on planets. Each one of them is very good at only one of these things. On top these games are 3D, how should one imagine that in 2D? Get quests, make friends – that’s all too vague to even know what you mean.
I think it might help to think small first and being more precise, if you know what I mean.
This probably exists in 2d as well. Terraria is close and I know there was a Sci-fi one similar to Terraria that was probably improved since I last saw it. Not to mention there’s also SWG Legends a MMORPG that pretty much does all of it.
