Add an "ai-assisted" tag or something similar, especially for Resources people make

Is this topic still alive?!?!?!? How?!?!?!?!?

Because the moderators don’t take any action.

We really need to do something with the amount of AI-slopped free/paid “addons” that are plaguing Resources.

Also, help topics have decreased significantly.

:wilted_flower:…
A.I changed the world yayyyy.
I wonder how many vibe-coded projects are out there just like this.

Yep. I know some people write it in their description that it was made with AI, but a lot of them don’t, and if you call them out they will either deny it or say “Well I came up with the idea it doesn’t matter if AI made it or not”

i think most people that dont want to use an AI-tag don’t do it because they’re afraid of their game being less popular / getting less help / getting shunned because of AI use…

That might be, but when it comes to developer tools and resources, many of us would very much prefer to choose if we want to use tools that were made by AI vs. real people.

Tools made by AI will often have a lot more issues than ones made by people, and I’m not saying human made tools are perfect, but generally if someone made an addon by themselves, and there’s an issue with it, they will have a much easier time actually debugging and fixing it instead of trying to get the AI to fix it without breaking something else.

You may be surprised by LLM users’ pride. Still if it’s part of the rules to tag your posts correctly then popularity contests don’t matter.

for ressources and tools it makes absolutely sense.

I don’t mind people knowing that I use AI for smthing because i dont have enough time for it. But i dont want someone to think that the game is “ass” or smthing because i needed a bit of help, and i prefer animating everything by myself and having a nice story… For me it’s not about pride as much as more like “people will pick on me or not like the game because i needed some help with coding”.

Can’t say anything about other people though, might be true

Help is a friendly place, we love a puzzle and talking through issues  You may save yourself headaches asking here first, and grow more too. LLMs will stumble over the same hurdles every time, at best until a new model is tweaked and released, but you can learn!

super easy for me bc I never use AI on my projects

Checking Resources and all but three recently active posts is AI generated materials. I think this is crazy, however most of them are also posted by presumably new accounts, maybe adding account-age restrictions to posting in Resources would help avoid hucksters?

So wait, let me get this straight.

I have a full AI disclosure on the Godot Asset store page, plus a more detailed disclosure on my GitHub readme, contains no AI generated art or sprites, it’s entirely FREE on top of all that, and it’s arguably not “vibe slop” at all, yet you’re still calling me a huckster?

(edit: also the showreel is 100% in Godot, no ai video generation whatsoever; the music is paid for (no ai), the mascot is like the 3rd artist I commissioned for this project (~200 USD just on the lovely two versions of the ferret), and the animation SVGs are source-generated from the same code and styles that make the in-engine tutorial)

Not sure what else one can be asked to do around these parts anymore. :frowning:

My huckster comment is more aimed at the new accounts that do not contribute back to the forum. Adding restrictions such as account age could help reduce hit-and-run type posts.

I still would appreciate an AI tag for the forum, and I am glad you’ve marked it appropriately everywhere applicable.

I think that ship as completely sailed. Because then, basically everything gets an AI tag.

Your screenshot would literally look like this.

And worse, the ones without the AI tag will then still have a >50% chance to be AI assisted in one way or another, regardless.

There’s not a lot of nuance you can give in a product description or a tag. To some people, even a single block of code taints the entire project. Others say “the art better be human” (I’m in that camp), and others don’t care at all.

Also, there are so many different way to use LLMs, diffusion models, random forests, ML, DL, classifiers, autocomplete, … you name it; and the lines are super blurry.

PS: Just to be clear, I absolutely hate what AI slop is doing to our already strained attention economy, and what it does to devalue skill, care, craft, and also talent. But not all use is equal and those who don’t care now will not care then.

That would be awesome, using filters I could hide these posts, currently I filter the entire resources category, I would love to have it back.

You know what, let’s effing go. They should add an ai tag to the tag list, nothing speaks against that, and I would use it. I’d prefer if it were split into ai-art, ai-code, ai-docs or something, but like I said, that would then want people to split between ai-music, ai-sounds, ai-textures, ai-meshes, ai-codecomplete and so on, so I get that it’s hard.

So… just “ai” or “ai-assisted” and I would actually use that tag. (poke me if I’m not around when it comes, I will add it)

Edit: Also added a small ai disclosure to the forum post.

Probably hopless to implement. Even the Linux kernel is now partially AI agentic coded and uber-guru Torvalds hims self has fallen to the AI-lovers.

If people had this same mentality, the world would become an even more depressing place. I would not stop fighting for what I think is right and correct, even if it seems hard. Do you also give up when things seem hard to do and just move onto the next, easy thing?
