Never throw away code. Use a git repository. You can cherry pick the best bits of your prototypes for the rest of your life. Rewrite everything often until it feels like second nature, but reuse all the best bits of your last iteration. You’ll know when it’s time to stop rewriting. Refactoring is just rewriting, but then smaller bits of the whole.
