Didn’t think to post them here until now, in between working on my larger project I’ve participated in two game jams with the aim of improving in areas I struggled in but were necessary for the larger project. I like how both turned out.
Ethereal Sphere by Shanluki, Nuclear Raven Games (Shanluki is the game’s composer, he was more familiar with Itch so he uploaded the game)

Nice. How long were the jams?
Ballistic Ballet in particular seems to have a lot going on. Cool look and very complete aside from maybe tweaking some of the numbers a bit. First couple runs I ran out of ammo on the first floor, but on the third I got to floor 5 and tried a whole bunch of guns which was cool. Great asthetic and vibe. I liked finding new guns and upgrading my favourites, but thought some of the enemies took too long to kill.
Ethereal Sphere. The ball! I got greedy every time trying to clear the stage and got squashed by the blasted ball! Had a lot of fun. Especially when I finally cleared stage 1 and then got to get an extra ball, which immediately killed me.
Thanks for sharing!

Ethereal Sphere was for a 3-day game jam, I submitted it day 2 due to feeling I’d done everything I wanted but I did neglect one or two bugs.
Ballistic Ballet was for a 15-day jam. Put in some 60 hours or so on the game and was pretty exhausted by the end so it was 90% done by day 10 or so, last few days were just polishing up and adding a few features like Divine Light. It’s definitely something I want to expand on in a future game.
Thanks for giving them a shot.

Well I’m impressed. I’ve never tried a jam but I think I just make progress too slowly for them.

I hope you do! I’d play that.

You’d be surprised how good they can be for you, both of them made me significantly better at working with gdscript. The small span of time keeps you focused on the stuff that matters rather than superfluous aspects.

Yeah, I’ve heard really good things about jams from others as well. I’d like to one day, but I find it hard to dedicate enough time for just one project so don’t think I’ll be starting a side one anytime soon.
