Add "Art" to Showcase category

As graphics and art does play a significant role in games and marketing the community here would benefit from being more inviting to people having a significant interest in that area. Providing a dedicated sub-category for this helps for more engagement.

I am not sure, if there are additional discourse plugins that would benefit such a sub-category. Maybe a gallery view is available to have a the sub-category be more visual?

There are two elements already available for discourse that I know of that would be helpful (in my opinion):

  1. Discourse Post Voting - Plugin - Discourse Meta Voting on post elements
  2. 1. 1. The [grid] tag could be included in the format bar of posts. And enabled?

So, how does that work?

I know for a fact the devs don’t look here, because they would’ve seen the AI and tractor shenanigans.

How this forum is developed is a mystery to all of us. Could you elaborate on the system?

They actually do see those and occasionally weigh in here on the forums.

Could you provide an example? That’s a serious question, I’m not trying to be snarky.

What do they think of the AI topics? If anything at all.

They’re so easy to find, and I reference them constantly.

What about “Like” or tractors? Do they see that?

I’m not going to out them, as I don’t think that would be helpful to their continued existence here.

The team has been pretty clear that AI is not allowed in the codebase.

As for the topics themselves, this is pretty much a community run forum from what I’ve seen.

You know, looking back at this whole AI spiraling shindig, I started the first spiral… And tractors… And “Like”.

I agree that artwork etc is an integral part of games, but this is a Godot forum… why not just share artwork in a regular showcase of a game, like it’s being done already? I’m not sure a new category would attract more artists, and people currently get a bump to their game showcase when posting some new pictures in there.

That said, it’s definitely valuable to have other skillsets than programmers on the forums (says the non-programmer). It would also be nice to make audio files shareable, as music and SFX are integral to game development too.
I personally think it’s fine to showcase a game that doesn’t exist yet - a few drawings and the intention of putting it into Godot at some point, is enough :slight_smile:
