I recently rewatched this video by jess::codes about creating 2D tiles in a more efficient manner, and this made me wonder if something similar could be done with 3D assets.
This ended up getting me down a rabbit hole that I’m not sure how to get out of. For instance, I came across the concept of “Ortho-tiles” (From this blog), as well as the general concept of “Modular Assets”. The issue is that, I’m wondering if there’s a general understanding to be had for making assets more easily, or if I should just bite the bullet and spend a lot of time working on stuff.
