Autotile bitmask for outer border

I’m trying to learn how autotiles and bit masks work but for the love of me I can’t make it work.

After many hours of trying different bit masks combinations… I’m starting to think that the tileset it self is wrong. Can you guys point me to the correct direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you found a solution for this? I’m struggling with the exact same problem. I can’t figure out the tileset structure or bitmask.
